Navelgas gold panners on their way to the Czech Republic

  • The general director of Demographic Challenge, Marcos Niño, has received several members of the Barciaecus Gold Panners Association, from Navelgas, who will be part of the Asturian delegation representing Spain in the World Goldpanning Championship to be held in the Czech Republic from August 19 to 24.
  • The Spanish delegation, made up of fifty Asturians, in addition to participating in the competition, will present to the more than 400 panners who will take part in the competition, the next World Gold Panning Championship to be held in Navelgas, from August 3 to 9, 2025.
More than fifty members of the Barciaecus Gold Panners Association, from Navelgas, leave in the next few days on route to the World Goldpanning Championship, which will take place in Zlate Hory (Czech Republic), from August 19 to 24.
They were received yesterday afternoon in Oviedo by the Director General of Demographic Challenge, Marcos Niño, together with the Deputy Mayor of Tineo, Sergio Martínez, and the manager of the Regional Commission of the Land Bank, José Ramón Feito.At the meeting, the flags of Asturias and Tineo were presented to the vice-president of the Association and recent champion of Spain, Alicia Menéndez.
In addition to competing in the different categories of the championship, the Navelgas gold panners have the task of carrying out important promotional work for the upcoming World Goldpanning Championship, which will be held in the town of Tineo, from August 3 to 9, 2025. For this, the Association is sponsored by the Government of the Principality of Asturias and the City Council of Tineo, and will offer an espicha based on Asturian products, to more than 400 gold panners who will be meeting at the competition in the Czech Republic, from more than twenty countries around the world. They will set up an information point throughout the competition and a promotional video will be projected.
In addition to the national championship that takes place annually in Navelgas, the association has already organized a European championship in 2005 and two World championships, one in 2008 and the other in 2015.
 
They are leaving for the Czech Republic with the ambition of winning a medal and above all, to announce and promote all the details of next year's event, which is expected to exceed the participation of previous editions.
In the Czech Republic, the championship will begin on August 19 with the inaugural parade of all delegations. The week will continue with the competition in the different qualifying rounds and will end on Saturday, August 24 with the awards ceremony. The opening ceremony and the traditional Asturian espicha, organized by the Navelgas gold panners, will take place on Thursday 22, starting at 18.00 hours.
