Espicha Asturiana to introduce the 2025 World Goldpanning Championship, Navelgas

Sausages, cheese, chosco de Tineo, casadiellas, cider and wine from Tierra de Cangas, was the menu chosen to offer to the more than 450 gold panners participating in this year's World Goldpanning Championship in the Czech Republic.

  • The presentation ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, Lara Martínez; the deputy mayor of Tineo, Sergio Martínez; the president of the World Goldpanning Association, Sanjay Singh, the Mayor of Zlaté Hory, Milan Rac, and the President of the Barciaecus Goldpanners Association, César Castaño, accompanied by about fifty members of the association.

Overn 450 gold panners from more than 20 countries from all over the world are taking part in the World Goldpanning Championship, which is being held at Zlaté Hory (Czech Republic), from August 19 to 24.

Yesterday afternoon, the Spanish delegation was in charge of presenting next year's championship, which will take place in Navelgas, from August 3 to August 9.

After the institutional act, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, Lara Martínez; the Deputy Mayor of Tineo, Sergio Martínez; the President of the World Goldpanning Association, Sanjay Singh; and the President of the Barciaecus Goldpanning Association, César Castaño, and sponsored by the Government of the Principality of Asturias and the City Council of Tineo, an espicha with Asturian products was offered to all attendees. A promotional video of Asturias and the tradition of the gold panning championships in Navelgas was also shown.

The Spanish delegation encouraged all gold panners to visit Asturias next year and immerse themselves for the third time in an international competition, pointing out that the village of Navelgas, in the municipality of Tineo, has already hosted a European championship in 2005 and two world championships, one in 2008 and another in 2015.

The Barciaecus Gold Panners Association and the whole town of Navelgas are very excited to again organize a world championship event, which is expected to exceed the participation of previous editions.

Competition in Zlaté Hory

The variousqualifying rounds of this year's world goldpanning championship began on Tuesday in Zlaté Hory (Czech Republic), with the Navelgas gold panners participating having reached the semifinals , many of them in a number of different categories, with U12s, U16s and families having reached the finals. It is hoped that some medals may be won in the final rounds, to be held tomorrow, Saturday.
